NOTE: This is an advanced class. You should be comfortable working with ROYAL ICING and have an airbrush.

This is a comprehensive online airbrush course and is as close as you can get to taking one of my in-person studio class as you can get. This course and kit are available for local pick-up only.

In this online airbrush course, we will do an in-depth study of the many facets of airbrush through multiple prerecorded HD videos uploaded to a private Facebook group. We will start by discussing a handout (included in your kit) on airbrush terminology: dual action vs. single action, needles sizes, nozzle sizes, working with shimmers and whites, working with water-based vs. alcohol based colors, the function and use of a preset handle and a MAC valve, achieving fine lines and much more.

I have, for the first time, decided to include a thorough discussion of clogging: what does it look like and how can we circumvent it? I will be providing visual aids to help in our exploration of issues related to clogging as well. Next we will work on making an eyeball transfer and have a lesson on how to work with fondant (for appliqués) using silicone molds. Next we will work on sectional flooding and airbrushing. We will work on layering colors in the same family and different families and on mixing colors and how to achieve lighter tones with darker airbrush colors that are included in your kit. We will work with stencils and have a thorough discussion of overspray and underspray and how to overcome these problems. We will learn how to use different colors such brown, gray and black to create shadows. We will learn how to create a 3D rounded affect on our cookies using shadowing techniques. Finally, we will use tipless bags to finish up the set with micropiping and gold highlighter.

Class fee includes:

  • 5 prebaked cookies

  • 7 bags of precolored, preadjusted royal icing

  • 4 (optional) Stencibelle stencils. These are a kit add-on. If you have these stencils, there’s no need to add them. They are thin threads, reverse spiderweb, harlequin, and “Witch’s Brew” mini.

  • 9 bottles of airbrush color (5 ml.)

  • 3 balls precolored fondant

  • 4 silicone molds

  • Edible glue in applicator

  • Wafer paper stars

  • Sprinkles

  • 1 Designer Cookies bag (9.5”X4.75”)

  • 1 Butterfly shaped paint palette

  • Class photo to aid in the decorating process

  • Resource Guide

  • Airbrush Terminology Guide

  • Airbrush notes

  • Access to the private Facebook group where the class videos will be uploaded

NOTE: You will also need to have your own basic decorating tools and airbrush tools.  A fan or dehydrator is recommended to help speed up drying times and help give a sheen to your cookies. You may borrow an airbrush from us for use in this online class. Email us for information regarding this option. We will have two kit pickup locations:

  1. Grunderfully Delcious on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM

  2. Glendale, CA on Friday, October 16th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM OR Saturday, October 17th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
